My Portfolio | Current and Past Work

Gail Nelson with Mayhem

I’ve been writing professionally for most of my adult life — from accounting procedure manuals for systems I helped implement to a music book for kids and even newspaper articles. But it wasn't until around 10 years ago that I really tried to make a living at it while providing something people wanted: information and inspiration through a homeschool magazine I published from 2015-2020.

Because of those magazine issues, I've learned to incorporate storytelling techniques into my writing—making it far more engaging and informative. I’ve written everything from business blogs to wildlife articles and also provide marketing and graphic design services.

Here, you’ll find some of my most recent work. If you're looking for a specific sample, let me know. If don’t already have it lurking about somewhere, let’s discuss a paid test.

Business & Personal Growth

Sucess Magazine has been one of my favorite publications for years. Writing for them was a joy!

Health & Wellness

I’m a long-time student of whole foods and holistic healing. Foraging is a natural extension of that work. After all, why buy greens when I can find them for free. Plus, they’re even more nutritious than most of the store bought stuff.

The Florida based practice was working through the long process of updating and rejuvenating a neglected blog. I contributed several updates and fresh blogs to the effort.

Book Cover Design | “Think Like an Herbalist” by Amelia South

Update: Think Like an Herbalist just won a gold Literary Titan Award! I'm thrilled that all her hard work is paying off (expect a new cover proudly displaying the award!).

I can't wait to see where she goes from here. Amelia wanted a book cover that captured the soul of her book, Think Like an Herbalist. So I read it and designed a few ideas for her to choose from—this was her favorite. After a few tweaks and adjustments, she’s got the book cover of her dreams and marketing mockup images too. It’s available on Amazon.

Book Cover Design | “Wildcrafted Eats” by Amelia South

This is Amelia's latest work and it means a lot that she continues to trust me with her book cover design. Wildcrafted Eats used photos provided by the author and edited for print. I used some custom elements, created in Illustrator and Affinity Designer to create a unique and beautiful book cover Wildcrafted eats is available on Amazon.

PowerPoint Presentation Design | Millenials' and Mens' Health

Do you get frustrated just *thinking* about getting your pitch deck or slide show presentation ready? And yeah, we know that you can try it with AI, but it’s never quite the same as when you paid someone who knew what they were doing.

Using custom graphics, an eye for editing, and my slightly OCD need for copy to be amazing, my client and I worked together to achieve his goals. My process is very collaborative and I delight in delighting my clients.

So, impactful designs? Check. Great flow and transitions? Check.

And I can set these up in Powerpoint, Adobe Express, or Canva. Your choice.

Shoot me an email and we can get started.

Brand Design & Rebranding | No-BS Herbalist

Has your brand lost its luster? Your company grown out of its original brand?

It could be time for a rebrand, like it was for Amelia South, the No-BS Herbalist.

The No-BS Herbalist is the evolution of Black Sun Farm, Amelia South’s herbal practice that had outgrown its original farm-based identity. The rebrand aimed to reflect a new phase of the business — one centered on education, modern herbalism, and an honest, accessible approach to wellness.
